Pumpkin Dal / Gummadikaya Tiyya Pappu

Ingredients :

2 Cups Pumpkin Pieces
1 Cup Toor Dal
1 pinch Turmeric Powder
2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
Salt to taste

For Popu :

1/2 sp Mustard seeds
1/2 sp Urad dal
1 Red Chilli crocked
1 pinch Hing
Curry Leaves
2 sp Oil

Method :

  • Wash peel pumpkin and cut into small pieces.
  • Pressure cook toor dal, pumpkin pieces and green chilli pieces.
  • Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry for a min.
  • When they splutter add curry leaves and cooked dal mix.
  • Next add salt, turmeric powder and stir well.
  • Allow it to cook for few mins & transfer into a serving bowl.
  • Gummadikaya tiyya pappu is ready to serve. 
  • It goes very well with rice.
